Day 01: Arrival at Paro – Enroute to Thimphu
As your flight descends into Paro, prepare to be mesmerized by the breathtaking Himalayan landscape. The aerial view of snow-capped peaks and rolling foothills makes for an unforgettable welcome to the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Upon landing, you will be greeted by your representative, who will assist with immigration and customs formalities. From here, enjoy a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan's charming capital. The journey offers picturesque views of lush valleys, winding rivers, and traditional Bhutanese homes. On arrival, check into your hotel and refresh before heading out to explore. Visit the Memorial Chorten, a magnificent stupa built in honor of Bhutan's third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Known as the Father of Modern Bhutan, his legacy is celebrated through the stupa’s intricate paintings and statues, which beautifully depict Buddhist teachings. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll along Thimphu's main street, where you can browse through local handicrafts, textiles, and cozy cafes. Conclude the day with a hearty dinner and a restful night at your hotel. -
Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing – Heritage & Handicrafts
After a delicious breakfast, embark on a day of cultural exploration. Start at Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang), home to the majestic Buddha Dordenma statue, one of the largest in the world. The golden statue, perched on a hill, offers a sweeping view of the Thimphu valley—an ideal spot for capturing stunning photographs. Next, visit the Simply Bhutan Museum, a living museum that showcases the country’s traditional lifestyle and architecture. Built using salvaged materials from old Bhutanese homes, the museum provides a glimpse into the rustic charm of Bhutan’s past. You can even try on the national dress, the Gho for men and the Kira for women, for a fun photo opportunity. Post lunch, continue your city tour with a visit to the Textile Museum, where you’ll learn about Bhutan's intricate weaving techniques and see stunning examples of traditional attire. Later, explore the Craft Bazaar, where local artisans display and sell a range of hand-woven textiles, wood carvings, and pottery. End the day with a visit to Tashichhodzong, a grand fortress and monastery that serves as the seat of Bhutan's government and religion. Admire its traditional architecture, which was built without the use of nails or modern plans, a testament to Bhutanese craftsmanship. Return to the hotel for dinner and a peaceful overnight stay. -
Day 03: Thimphu to Punakha – The Valley of Serenity
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. En route, stop at Dochula Pass, a breathtaking mountain pass adorned with 108 memorial chortens (stupas). On clear days, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the Himalayan range—a sight to behold. Continue your journey with an excursion to Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility. Situated atop a small hill, the temple is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kunley, a revered saint known for his unconventional teachings. Walk through a charming village on the way to the temple, enjoying scenic countryside views. In Punakha, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, an architectural marvel strategically located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Built in 1637, the fortress is renowned for its stunning design and historical significance. Conclude the day with a walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of Bhutan’s longest, adorned with colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind. Enjoy the tranquil views of the river and surrounding valley before heading to your hotel for the night. -
Day 04: Punakha Sightseeing – Nature & Spirituality
Start your day with an adventurous hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, a stunning temple perched on a hill overlooking the Punakha valley. This Chorten, built by the Queen Mother, is a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture, designed based on sacred scriptures rather than modern engineering plans. The hike offers mesmerizing views of the valley, and the temple itself is adorned with intricate murals and sacred relics. After lunch, visit the Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang Nunnery, a serene temple complex nestled among pine forests. The nunnery houses a 14-foot bronze statue of Avalokiteshvara and serves as a learning center for nuns, offering training in religious practices and life skills like tailoring and painting. Enjoy the peaceful ambiance and, if you’re lucky, have a heartfelt interaction with the nuns. Return to your hotel for a relaxing evening and overnight stay. -
Day 05: Gangtey to Paro – Back to the Valley
After breakfast, drive back to Paro, descending through the scenic Dochula Pass once again. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and proceed to visit Ta Dzong, a historic watchtower that now serves as Bhutan's National Museum. The museum offers fascinating exhibits on Bhutanese culture, history, and artifacts, providing deeper insights into the kingdom’s heritage. Next, visit Rinpung Dzong, meaning "Fortress of the Heap of Jewels." This iconic structure is known for its massive buttressed walls and intricate wooden balconies. The dzong offers a glimpse into Bhutan’s spiritual and administrative history. After exploring, relax at your hotel and enjoy a peaceful evening. -
Day 06: Hike to Tiger’s Nest – The Icon of Bhutan
After an early breakfast, set out for the highlight of your trip—a hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang). Perched dramatically on a cliffside 900 meters above the Paro valley, this sacred monastery offers breathtaking views and a profound sense of tranquility. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this spot on the back of a tigress to subdue evil spirits. The challenging yet rewarding hike through pine forests and past prayer wheels makes this an unforgettable experience. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll through Paro’s main street and market area. Browse local shops for souvenirs, including traditional textiles, handicrafts, and Bhutanese art. Return to your hotel for a restful night. -
Day 07: Departure from Paro
After an early breakfast, bid farewell to Bhutan as you head to the airport. Your guide will assist with the departure formalities before you board your flight. As you ascend into the skies, carry with you the memories of Bhutan’s serene landscapes, warm hospitality, and timeless spirituality—a journey that will remain etched in your heart forever.
